  • Regular meeting of the working group of the Russian-Italian coordination Council

    On September 04, 2019, a regular meeting of the working group of the Russian-Italian coordinating Council "Ethical Entreprise" and the Association of organic and biodynamic agriculture (FederBio) took place in Bologna.
    The meeting was attended by members of the Council "Ethical Entreprise" Andrey V. Volkov and Lorenzo Sasso, as well as the head of the project on organic agriculture Aldo Cervi, Professor of the University of Bologna Cosimo Sasso, President of the National Union of grain producers Pavel Skurikhin. At the meeting, an agreement was reached to open a Branch of the Federbio Academy in Moscow.

    On may 29, Members of the coordinating Council "Ethical Entreprise" took part in a Charity concert of the People's artist of Russia , President of the International charitable Foundation Yuri Rozum. The concert was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the artist. Yuri Rozum also celebrated 45 years of work on the stage and 25 years of active participation in charitable activities. The event was held in the concert Hall of the charge. The evening was attended by: Anna Aglatova, Sergey Zhilin, Dmitry Dibrov, Yana Churikova, Mikhail Guzhov, the Academic Grand choir "Masters of choral singing" under the direction Of people's artist of Russia Lev Kontorovich, the Central Military Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and many other friends of the Foundation.

    There are several reasons for which agriculture has become an issue of moral concern in the current debate. First, there is a mismatch between global food supplies and human nutritional needs. Agribusiness has a strong impact on rural employment. Furthermore, modern agricultural biotechnologies have consequences for human and animal welfare. Finally, intensive production systems have effects on the sustainability of the global environment. The way we are going to organize the food and agriculture system, direct the production, transformation and distribution of food and other agricultural goods touch spheres that are inherently of ethical concern. This also explains why agriculture has become a matter of public policy. Several most controversial discussed issues in the realm of agriculture as highlighted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are: Sustainable Agriculture, Animal Well-fare and Livestock Husbandry, Patenting and Ethics in Intellectual Property in food and agriculture and Ethical Issues in Agricultural Research.
